I bought my first Pre-Columbian textile fragments in Lima. As I started to read up on these artifacts and cultures, I became totally intrigued, and for 25 years I was engaged in collecting and studying the history of the civilizations that produced these pieces.
The collection contains woven examples from almost every era of Pre-Columbian culture, spanning the years from approximately 800 BC until the arrival of the Spanish in 1532. I published three books on the subject, which can be found here on the site.
I donated the entire collection to the Yale University Art Museum.
